The Old Rectory
LOCATION | Bury St Edmunds
The Old Rectory is a large country house with a large and rambling garden, and has been an ongoing project of mine for several years, during which time I’ve built up a great rapport with the owners. The formal york stone terrace provides some lovely sunny seating areas, and the raised bed achieves separation of the swimming pool area. The terracotta urns make a grand statement and act as fabulous focal points. The Portuguese Laurel ‘Lollipop Hedge’ affords some screening without blocking off the view. There are two large herbaceous borders featured, one of which is naturalistic in style and possesses a long season of interest, the other being rather more ornamental and traditional. Both are great for attracting bees and butterflies into the garden.
